Improving the DOA estimation performance of distributed sources via projection pretransformation

System errors and small samples result in bad performance of highresolution DOA estimation of distributed sources. A novel projection transformation method is presented in this paper, which can, to some extent, decrease the signal subspace sensitivity. The projection operator can be obtained by both preliminary direction estimation and array manifold. Thus the performance of DOA estimation is improved by means of projection techniques, which is confirmed by both theoretical analysis and computer simulations.
