Contention window adaptive MAC protocol for wireless sensor networks

Lin Liu · Transducer and Microsystem Technologies · 2010

Media access control(MAC)protocol is one of the key network protocol to ensure that wireless sensor networks(WSNs)high-performance communications.MAC layer protocol design is reasonable or not will seriously affect the network performance.Existing MAC protocal classification and the main MAC protocals are also introduced. The typical S-MAC protocol in wireless sensor networks is analyzed.Aimed to the defects of the use of fixed window when S-MAC carrier sense,a new MAC protocol,ASMAC,which can dynamic adjust the window by the change of the flow is proposed.NS 2 is used to simulate ASMAC,which has proved that new ASMAC can not only dramatically improve throughput and reduce delay, but also effectively improve the energy efficiency. It can achieve the purpose of energy saving and improve network propertly at the same time.
