Analysis on Classification and Characteristics of Spatio-temporal Data Models

Spatio-Temporal Data Model(STDM)is the crucial problem of Temporal GIS(TGIS).It determines the flexibility of the TGIS,and restricts the research and development of TGIS.The research of STDM in the past three decades is reviewed in the paper.Focusing on several typical STDM,their advantages and disadvantages are pointed out first,and then are classified from the basic concept and design of models.Concerning the main problems in current research,the development directions of STDM are prospected from the mechanism,objective and function of STDM's modeling.
