Audio-transmission Technology Based on Third Network

Zhao Jian · Audio Engineering · 2008

The technology for transmitting no compressed pro-audio signals using Ethernet including CobraNet and EtherSound is mature. Due to the limit of Ethernet itself, many applying functions can not be achieved. And it is inevitable that the transmission foundation will developed from Ethernet to the third level of OSI, IP networks. The problem to do this is the lack of pertinent accessorial technology. When the protocol of precise time synchronization of IEEE1588 is promulgated, the bottleneck is broken, and now the times of transmitting pro-audio signals via the third network is coming.
