Routing metric is critical for performance of wireless mesh networks(WMN).This paper proposes a novel routing metric(IEDR,Interference Expected Data Rate),considering intra-path interference,inter-path interference and channel diversity. The routing metric is implemented based on DSR in NS—2.The simulation is performed on NS—2 to compare the performance of hop count, expected transmission count(ETX),expected data rate(EDR) with that of IEDR.And the results show that IEDR obtains the best performance,so it is the most appropriate for WMN among above metrics.
