Antibiotic resistance has been spreading at an alarming rate among pathogens, which poses a great threat to human health. It is critical to investigate the mechanisms of action of antibiotics in order to develop new antibiotics and enhance the efficacy of the existing ones.Recent studies indicate bactericidal antibiotics kill pathogens via a common pathway involving reactive oxygen species(ROS).In this review, the recent progress in the interplay of ROS,SOS and antibiotic resistance has been discussed. These data should prove to be of importance for the development of new antibiotic strategies and encountering with pathogen drug resistance.
