Based on the low energy adaptie clustering hierarchy(LEACH) protocol, the wireless sensor network′s lifetime in different topologies is analyzed. Moreover, the routing protocol of the rectangular topology is improved. The distributed optical fiber sensor link located at the rectangular area to overcome shortcomings of wireless sensor network, such as limited power, sensitive to interference and poor security under certain situations. The lifetime and reliability of such a hybrid sensor network can be improved as distributed fiber sensors cover areas with harsh environments and strong electromagnetic interferences.Theoretical analyses and simulation results demonstrate that compared with the standard LEACH protocol, the improved topology and routing protocol can effectively prolong the lifetime of the hybrid sensor network, as well as increase the reliability.
