Simulation and Evaluation of GRAKE in WCDMA Systems

In order to let WCDMA support high data rate in uplink direction,3GPP R6 introduces an enhanced dedicated uplink channel(E-DCH),allowing minimum SF=2. However, when SF is small, physical channel performance becomes worse from the view of multicode orthogonality, caused by the effect of multipath fading. With multi-user interference, uplink receiver performance is seriouly deteriorated. The RAKE receiver is not sufficient to offset intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by multipath interference. Therefore, the GRAKE receiver is introduced in order to improve uplink performance.
