Subchannel allocation algorithm for adaptive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system

Original subcarrier allocation algorithm in adaptive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system is computing complex computational complex and time consuming, which is unfavorable for real-time application. In order to overcome this shortcoming, a quick subcarrier allocation algorithm was proposed. Based on the bit rate requirements and the subchannel gains of different users, the relative bit requirement per user and the (utilization) efficiency per subcarrier were calculated. Priority was given to users with larger relative bit (requirement) and to subcarriers with higher utilization efficiency in the proposed algorithm. Simulation (results) show that the spectral efficiency of the proposed algorithm is tightly approaching the theoretical (upperbound,) and that the algorithm has better performance on fairness and computational complexity comparing with original algorithm.
