With the development of cryptanalysis techniques, the outdated data encryption standard(DES) could not meet the requirement of applications.AES has been the next generation data encryption standard and superseded DES that has a twenty-year application history. The present implementation of AES algorithm generally has the shortages of more resource consumption, low throughout and implementing respectively the encryption and decryption. To obtain the tradeoff between resource consumption and throughout for implementing simultaneously the algorithm of AES encryption and decryption with the method of resource sharing and paralleling, this paper analyzes the properties and characteristics of variant transformations and 128bits key expansion in AES algorithm.SubBytes and InvSubBytes transformations are optimized by employing composite field,MixColumns and InvMixColumns transformations are simplified by deducing architectures of,the scheme of key expansion of encryption/equivalent decryption is presented, and a parallel algorithm for AES encryption/decryption is completed.By simulation on FPGA and comparison with related works in this area, the results show that this design obtains a greater throughput with less resource.
