Performance Analysis of Bottleneck Nodes in Ad-Hoc Network

Huo Jun-wei · Research and Exploration in Laboratory · 2009

Ad-Hoc network has,due to the fair radio resource sharing at the Mac-layer,the tendency to share the channel capacity equally amongst the active nodes, irrespective of their loads. An inherent drawback of this sharing policy is that a node that serves as a relay-node for multiple flows is likely to become a bottleneck node.In order to analyze the network behavior of such node at the flow-level,this paper described a simple scenario of wireless ad-hoc networks, with IEEE 802.11 as the underlying technology. Then,it proposed a mathematical model based on the previous scenario and presented a performance analysis of nodes in this scenario.Lastly, the results of simulation were given.
