Corner detection based on spatial moment

Spatial moment may be utilized not only to edge extraction, but also to corner detection. By analyzing mathematical formula of spatial moment at corner-model, the spatial-moment-generating polynomials are used as one decision rule of corner detection measure. Then, based on Kitchen′s corner measure and Wang′s corner measure, the gradient-direction change is employed as another decision rule of corner detection. The experiment shows that the corner detection measure, which makes use of the two decision rules, not only may accurately and reliably detect the corner but also is robust to noise.
