Testing Data Analysis of Frequent Explosion Accident at 110/6 kV Substation in East Suburban of Kaifeng

Based on the simulation analysis of arc grounding test at kaifeng east substation and recording data of arc over-voltage on site from Hebei Sinewave Electrical Co., it is pointed out that there are three reasons of exploding frequently for the substation’s primary equipments. Firstly, the arrester and arc suppression coil did not work on inhibition of arc over-voltage in transient process. Secondly, the substation’s harmonic content is too high and the primary equipment’s life is seriously shorted in long operation. Thirdly, if the compensation from arc suppression coil is improper, it will disturb the system.
