Korean Boolean Query Generation and Extension for Improving Retrieval Performance

In order to improve retrieval performance of information retrieval system and make it convenient to use,this paper proposed a new method that automatically converts the Korean natural language words which inputted by users into extended Boolean queries.This method firstly generates Boolean query words based on syntax information from Korean natural language words.Then it syntactically analyzes the query terms,uses syntactic tree to assemble or separate related compound nouns and extends search with expanding multi markers and brief markers.Comparing to common search method and search method based on manual extracting Boolean query,this method gets more 8% and 12% in accuracy separately.
