Method for ranking interval numbers based on possibility degree

This paper studies the problem of ranking interval numbers based on possibility degree. For a set of interval numbers,a simple possibility degree formula for comparing two interval numbers is proposed.The value of this formula illuminates the degree of that one interval number is greater than the other.It is shows that this formula have some fine properties,such as transitivity,comple- mentary,and so on.Then,by applying the results of paired comparison,a possibility degree matrix is established.Simultaneously,an algorithm to rank interval numbers based on the matrix is presen- ted.Finally,an example is given to illustrate the validity of this algorithm.
