Devising and initial realization of testing hearing system for sound location

AIM To design and realize a system which can distinguish and evaluate people's ability to localize sound. METHODS Through analysing the physical features of sound and the auditory property of ear, the author advanced a method to localize sound both in horizontal and vertical directions, and presented and realized a simple and feasible sys-tem for testing hearing based on making full use of computer technology. This system has four test modes, and can distinguish and evaluate people's ability to localize sound through parameter MAA. RESULTS After initial experiments and clinical confirmation, a preferable result has been achieved. CONCLUSION The method presented in this paper has a certain applicable value in distinguishing and evaluating people's ability to localize sound.
