Cao Zhi-yue · 2002
Geographical information has three basic components: space, attribute and time. Future Geographic Information System (GIS) should support the temporal dimension, model and manage all three components efficiently. It is difficult for current GIS software to deal with temporal phenomenon, so spatio-temporal data model has become a hotspot in the GIS area. This paper proposes an object-oriented spatio-temporal data model and describes its data structure, after analyzing the shortcomings existing in the traditional data models.
