Jihua Song · Xiandai jiaoyu jishu · 2008
The apparent differences between Classic and Contemporary Chinese make traditional ancient works written in Classic Chinese difficult to understand by modern people. The Classic and Contemporary Chinese parallel corpus has being built to provide a platform for those who hope to appreciate Chinese traditional ideology and culture and experts in relative fields to read, translate, retrieve and compute ancient Chinese works. The construction of corpora is the foundation of building a corpus. This paper explicates the systematic construction of the open resources of a large Classic and Contemporary Chinese parallel corpus from five steps:designing, collecting, formatting, bilingual aligning and XML marking.
