SIP Conference System Design Based on P2P Networks

Yao Yan · Journal of Xiamen University · 2009

Session Initiation Protocol(SIP)is a key protocol for next multimedia communication networks with its simplicity and extensibility.Due to its Client/Server(C/S)architecture,when the system traffic increases, the system performance will emerge a bottleneck easily, which is a technological obstacle of SIP application and development. The paper presents a novel architecture model of SIP video conference system based on P2P network, which improves present C/S architecture based SIP to mixed network architecture based P2P.It not only has advantages of distributed architecture like P2P system, but also has advantages of C/S architecture in the SIP system. Then the paper discusses the main functional modules and programming design. In the end,the important signaling operation flow is introduced.
