Energy-efficient reduced collision MAC for wireless sensor networks

Wireless sensor network employs CSMA/CA and BEB(Binary Exponential Backoff) mechanism to avoid collision generally.This paper presents an energy-efficient reduced collision(ERC) MAC.ERC separates the data transmission cycle into two phases,negotiation phase and transmission phase.ERC improves the throughput and energy efficiency by collision avoid-ancet,erminal sleeping and bulk transmission mechanisms.Simulation results demonstrate that ERC can enhance the network throughput and energy efficiency under various offered load rates.
