Next generation of wireless communication systems will be required to support heterogeneous services with different transmission rates.Providing flexible transmission rates for each user and efficient use of the radio resources requires rate and power control. In this paper we present a novel algorithm for joining transmission rates and power control. Two distributed algorithms based on game theory are employed to jointly solve the problem of optimizing the transmission rates and transmitting powers. We then establish the existence, uniqueness and Pareto optimality of the Nash equilibrium of both games.Numerical results obtained from simulations show that users are able to reach high transmission rate with low transmitting power and that the convergence speed is faster.
