A Fast Pyramid Image Matching Algorithm Based on Wavelet Decomposition

The paper proposes a fast image matching algorithm on the wavelet pyramid using the multi-resolution character of wavelet transform. First, the images are decomposed to low resolution ones using wavelet transform. Then, image matching is processed on the lowest resolution level. Based on the matching result, the matching can be implemented between the sequential levels stepwise up to the full resolution image. The results confirm the proposed algoritm can improve the efficiency distinctly.
