Research on dynamic spectrum access for MAC protocol

Lianzhi Wang · Digital Communication · 2009

Opportunistic spectrum access(OSA)allows unlicensed secondary networks to share licensed spectrum in space and time, but only when licensed users are not using the spectrum. In addition, the dynamic of spectrum environment implies a few nontrivial problems to MAC design, including how the secondary user decide and to which channel it should tune in order to transmit/receive packets without affecting the communications of the primary users. This paper comprehensively summarizes and analyzes the researches of recent years on the challenges of OSA-MAC design.Based on the analysis,it discusses the problem that must be resolved to design an efficient OSA-MAC in cognitive wireless network, and points out the research direction in the future.
