Effects of different tillage on powdery mildew of spring wheat in the loess plateau dryland farming area were examined.Three-year incidence and index of powdery mildew under no-tillage and mini-tillage and natural infection condition were investigated.Six kinds of treatments were set up to research in the field:they were conventional tillage with no straw,no-tillage with straw cover,no-tillage with no straw cover, conventional tillage with straw incorporated, conventional tillage with plastic mulch,no-tillage with plastic mulch. The results showed that the disease incidence and disease index of the wheat powdery mildew under conventional tillage with no straw(CK) were higher than those of other treatments, they were 76.22 % and 36.86 respectively, and the field yield of CK was 1416.05,which was lower than that of others. The disease incidence and disease index under no-tillage with plastic mulch were the lowest in the six treatments, they were 59.25 % and 24.08 respectively, however its field yield was the highest one, which was 2081.06 kg/hm2.Thus it can be proved that no-tillage with plastic mulch could reduce the damage of wheat powdery mildew.
