Low-bit-rate speech coding and transmission algorithm for defending the wideband rejective interference

Xin Zhang · Journal of Tsinghua University(Science and Technology) · 2005

A window algorithm was developed for speech communications on Frequency-Hopping (FH) channels with wideband rejective interference. The transmitted bit stream is divided into equal slices with a fixed length sliding window. Several slices are transmitted as the data in one hop. The overlapped parts of the data of consecutive hops are compared to make a bad hop decision at the receiver. Each slice is error protected using Joint Maximum Posterior Probability decoding. Simulations show that the average segmental signal-to-noise ratio of the window algorithm exceeds that of the continuously variable slope delta algorithm by more than 20 dB for the same channel conditions.
