Biodiversity Informatics and Its Application in Geological Research

The aim of this article is to give a brief introduction of biodiversity informatics and its applications in the cross-research of biology and geology.The abundant literatures available indicate that biodiversity informatics made great progresses in terms of biological diversity databases and biodiversity information processing software during past years. These results have been widely applied in the field of paleobiology,co-evolution of organism and environment as well as geoecology.Finally,the authors point out some difficulties during the development process of biodiversity informatics and bright perspective of its application in geological research.
