RD-optimized intra refreshing algorithm using HVS characteristic

By analyzing both motion and texture information of macroblocks at different positions in the original video sequence,a simple yet effective method to measure the visual sensitivity of macroblock was presented and then a RD-optimized intra refreshing algorithm using HVS characteristic was proposed.Based on the measured visual sensitiv-ity of each macroblock,the proposed algorithm could adjust its corresponding estimated overall distortion to make it ac-cord with human visual system so that the macroblocks having bigger perceptual distortion could be intra-refreshed more timely.The simulation results based on H.264 video under typical 3G wireless channel condition showed that,comparing with the traditional RD-optimized intra refreshing algorithm,the proposed algorithm could guarantee a better subjective quality of the reconstructed video at the decoder.
