Research on the Parallel Computing of the Finite-Difference Model for Weather Forecasting

Song Jun-Qiang · Computer Engineering and Science · 2004

The finite-difference model is one of the most accepted medium-range weather forecasting models. This paper analyses the parallel computing characteristics of the typical finite-difference model, MM5, does some research on the mechanisms of multiple-grid nesting, domain decomposition, communication and optimization, and gives the test results on a YH Supercomputer in the end.
