A fast image coding algorithm based on fractal

A fast fractal image coding algorithm is presented. Considering deficiency of slow speed and too long coding time in Jadquin's algorithm when searching domain block for range block, the definition of peripheral neighborhood is first presented, and then a fast fractal image coding algorithm based on Jacquin's is presented. This algorithm can reduce matching computation greatly, and can speed up fractal coding. Experimental results show that the coding time can be reduced by 99% while the quality of reconstructed image is not much influenced.
