Operation Support System Standards: Status Quo and Trends

Kong Ling-ping · ZTE communications · 2006

The emerging of diversified new telecom technologies leads to continuous changing of telecom networks. Consequently, the operation support systems of telecom operation enterprises are facing structure adjustment and construction of new systems. In this situation, new generation operation support system standards are urgently required. Several standardization organizations have made substantial progresses in the study of the new generation standards, such as ITU's study on NGN management, TMF's on New Generation Operation System and Software (NGOSS) and CCSA's on network management standards. However, the existing operation support systems are still confronted with architecture improvement, change of the focus of operation support, orientation of customers' demands and technology evolution.
