Modeling for Energy Consumption of Wireless Network Interface Card and Its Realization in GloMoSim
Zheng Shao-ren · Acta Simulata Systematica Sinica · 2003
Based on actual measurement results of the power consumed by laptop wireless network interface card under various working modes, an energy consumption model is proposed. How to realize it in GloMoSim is also introduced. This model can be widely used in researches on node energy consumption in ad hoc networks. With the new model, simulation results on IEEE 802.11 protocol with power saving mode show that when there are many flows in the network and the traffic load is rather heavy, this protocol cannot save energy and needs further improvements.
