Study of video quality assessment based on watermarking

In spite of improvement in compression and transmission techniques,distortion is often introduced into the several stages of a digital media communication system.Evaluation of the quality of received digital media is an important issue for terminal.This paper presents some image and video transmission quality(assessment) methods based on digital watermarking.An overview is first given including quality assessment characteristics,typical models etc.Then the application of watermark and existing problems are discussed in detail.Finally some possible new directions of quality assessment based on watermarking are also stated.
