Mass Detection Method in Mammograms Based on Modified Maker-controlled Watershed Transform

Due to different sizes and shapes of masses in mammograms,traditional watershed method with fixed parameters can't detect masses effectively.To solve this problem,propose an algorithm integrated with shape feature and modified watershed transform to detect masses in mammograms.The proposed method calculates inner markers with shape feature and via morphological dilation and edge detection to locate external markers.Then apply modified watershed algorithm with adaptive parameters to detect masses.The result shows that the proposed approach has higher detection rate than the traditional watershed method.
