Vector Data Compression of Mobile GIS
Zhiguo Wang · Geospatial Information · 2007
Spatial data compression is an important task for spatial transmission on wireless mobile network and improving mobile GIS system efficiency. This paper gives a review on vector data compression of mobile GIS. Firstly, the reason of vector data compression is discussed, and gives the definition of vector data compression. Then, the conventional vector data compression methods are introduced simply. In the end, this papers analyses improvements of Douglas-Peucker algorithm, wavelet-based algorithm and second generation wavelet-based one on vector data compression.
