An architecture for intelligent information retrieval based on multi-agent(IIR M-Agent) is proposed.Agent community is discussed first.An M-Agent architecture which has two layers is proposed and illustrated.Subagents of IIR M-Agent are also identified so that they are designed and implemented separately.How these subagent collaborate to make some functions,such as intelligent search,auto-notification,navigation guide and personal information management,are illustrated and discussed.
