In Wideband CDMA systems, pilot symbols and complex spreading were adopted in uplink channels.According to this feature,a novel pilot symbols aided 2D RAKE receiver for WCDMA system was proposed in the literature. The pilot symbols were used to estimate channel and act as reference signal of beam-former.The simulation with the conditions of multiuser frequency selective fading channels has shown that the 2D RAKE proposed can provide significant capacity enhancements over the conventional temporal RAKE receivers. This study proved that the sufficient use of pilot symbols could reduce the complexity of 2D RAKE receivers and offer substantial performance gains.
