A Fast Search Algorithm of Motion Estimation Based on Sort

Motion estimation is one of the key technologies of H.264 inter prediction encoding,It is rather im- portant to reduce the time of motion estimation for the process of encoding.This paper presents a improved fast search algorithm based on block sort.Image blocks are divided into blocks changing acutely,blocks changing mod- erately and blocks changing slowly according to quantity of motion.Then different search method to deal with differ- ent block is adopted.As to blocks changing acutely,we adopt double cross combined with big and small diamond algorithm.As to blocks changing moderately,we adopt big and small diamond algorithm.As to blocks changing slowly,we adopt square search algorithm.By validating,this method could reduce the search time effectively.
