Bai Feng · Journal of Computer Research and Development · 2003

The service discovery is the core technique of services framework, and the key part of services broker which links the service providers and service consumers. In this paper a consumer-oriented services discovery mechanism is proposed, which complements the existing discovery mechanisms. It can speed up the discovery of services, reduce the access to servers, and facilitate the providers to advertise their services. This mechanism supports the service discovery by name or by features, with the consumer's characteristics and preferences involved.
