Research on Lightning Parameter Measurement and Measuring Devices

A lightning parameter calculation model is built in which the difference between the length of erased magnetic record in horizontally arranged magnetic tape and that in vertically arranged magnetic tape is in linear relation to maximum gradient of lightning current. Based on the presentation and analysis on the measurement principle of magnetic tape,a method for the statistics of lightning parameters is proposed. Considering the harsh environment in engineering application,a method of packing magnetic tape in PVC tube is given and applied to actual measurement. The mathematical expression suitable to the amplitude distribution of lightning current is fitted and a scientific,canonical statistical and analytical method that is easy to implement is put forward in the hope of providing reference for large-scale statistical research on the amplitude distribution of lightning parameters in China.
