A Receiver and Signal Generating Subsystem for ATC Primary Surveillance Radar

Yan Zhang · Modern Radar · 2011

ATC primary surveillance radar is mainly used in the aerial surveillance though the airway, which requires large coverage, small dead zone, high reliability.Meanwhile it can detect the aerial distribution of precipitation, and guide the aircraft to avoid the meteorological hazardous area.A design of a receiver and signal generating subsystem for ATC primary surveillance radar is described in detail in this paper. The system has employed a great deal of technologies such as broad and narrow dual-mode waveform,single-channel frequency diversity, individual weather channel, double hot-redundancy and quantitative monitoring on line. The key issues are to solve the problems of extensive coverage on space detection, high target detection probability, compatibility of the meteorological detection and high reliability on radar. The research result is presented in this paper. And this kind of radar has approached to the testing applicable phase in which satisfied results have been achieved.
