Rho/Rho-kinase mediated signalling and statins
Yan Zhao, Guanhua Du · Chinese Journal of New Drugs and Clinical Remedies · 2008
Except for the beneficial actions on lipid profile, statins exhibit several other effects, which are related to Rho/Rho-kinase mediated signaling.Statins inhibit the isoprenylation and membrane location of Rho and the following activation of Rho kinase, and then trigger a set of cell biological effects. The elucidation of the relationship between statins and Rho/Rho-kinase mediated signaling would help to understand,at least in part, the mechanisms of the extensive pharmaceutical activities of statins besides adjusting lipids.
