Performance Criterion for Programmable Network Technology Applicableto Communication Network Error Control
Zhengkun Mi · Journal of Military Communications Technology · 2002
Based on the analysis of the requirements of error-control functions within end-to-end and multicasting models, the criterion is derived concerning the application of programmable network technology to error control. The criterion can be stated as that the ratio of the time for error-control codes inserting into intermediate nodes to the extra time delay due to error-control algorithms should be less than the ratio of the total number of links to the number of links with deteriorated BER performance.
