Effect of striking point and striking dynamics on the amplitude spectrum of piano signals

This paper studied the effect of striking point and dynamics at string on the amplitude spectrum of a piano from theory and spectrum analysis experiment.Firstly,a theoretic equation of the velocity amplitude is presented with vibration theory of string.Then,the audio recording of a piano is analyzed and processed by computer and an amplitude spectrum of the piano is obtained.Finally,the effect of striking force and striking point at string on the amplitude spectrum are discussed.The result shows that although the relationship between the value of amplitude spectrum and the velocity ampli-tude is not simply correlated,they are proportional to each other indeed.The variation of the ratio of different partials can be easily realized by adjusting the value of A/L.[
