On the Theory of Clause Relation and its Implications

Hoey defines clause relation as a cognitive process in which people choose grammar, vocabulary and tone to generate sentences and sentence groups according to adjacent clause and clause group,including logic sequence relations and matching relations. Signal device is the common means to realize this relation. The basic discourse patterns are:problem-solution pattern, matching pattern and general-particular pattern.
