Yuefeng Lu · Acta Geodaetica et Cartographica Sinica · 2013

A novel shape descriptor for geometry shape retrieval of polygon entity is presented. The descriptor is based on the fast Fourier transform of the bending radius complex function. And it is a feature vector for shape description constructed the Fourier coefficients. The complex function is composed of the centroid distance as real part and the bending as imaginary part. The centroid distance can describe the overall shape of the polygon entity. The bending is the angle of the secant lines, which through a point on the boundary line of the polygon entity,on both sides. And it can describe the degree of boundary line bending and the convexity and concavity at that point.A comprehensive weighted model for geometry similarity is established by integrating location similarity, shape similarity and size similarity.Based on the model, experiments are performed, and the results show that the model is correct and effective in matching and similarity measure of polygon entities.
