A Dynamic Retransmission Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

Routing protocols for wireless sensor networks increase the transmission reliability through point-to-point packet retransmission mechanism.The mechanism doesn't take into account differences of reliability requirements of different types of tasks,and the network sets a static maximum number of retransmissions.This paper presents a dynamic retransmission algorithm.It sets the maximum number of retransmissions for each task according to its reliability requirement.For lower reliability requirement task,comparing to the traditional mechanism,the dynamic algorithm can reduce more number of retransmissions.Simulation results show that the dynamic algorithm can effectively reduce network energy consumption.
