The location of emitter by passive sensor arrays has received considerable attention in recent years. It is an important component of electronic warfare(EW) system. To solve the problems concerning the location method based on non-cooperative sources such as broadcast television signals,a new way of mainly applying blind source separation(BSS) was proposed based on canonical correlation analysis(CCA) to fulfill the signals separation, echo extraction, and computation of time diffe-rence in strong direct wave environments.By the direction of arrival(DOA) estimation, the location issue was transferred into time difference direction location,by which the precise location perfor-mance was obtained. Therefore, the implementation of this passive location method is simple with a small amount of computation. The experiments show that applying BSS to this new passive location way is efficient and feasible.
