An Approach of Transforming from Rational Databases to OWL Ontologies

One of key aspects of ontology study is the transformation from relational databases to ontologies by a semiautomatic approach,which is also a hotspot of heterogeneous databases integration system.The existing approaches of extracting ontology from relational databases can only extract a small subset of semantics information,and this is because these approaches pay attention to the structure of ontology.In this paper,groups of semantic mapping rules from relational databases to OWL ontologies are proposed in detail.By analyzing the layered schema information of rational databases,these rules can extract much more semantic information from databases,including inheritance and optimization structures.
