H.264/AVC is a kind of video coding standard, which has higher compression efficiency and better network adaptability, and it is used in the field of high-performance video services widely. It adopts RDO(Rate distortion optimization)technique, which improves the encoding efficiency, but increases computational complexity. This paper presents a kind of fast H.264intra prediction mode selection algorithm based on the texture features and the correlation between the sub-blocks.According to the texture direction, the number of prediction modes is reduced.Based on relative independence of prediction mode in chrominance block and luminance block, and the mode correlation between sub-blocks,the RDO calculation is reduced. The experiment result shows that in the case of image quality remained unchanged, the encoding time is reduced about 65% on average.
