The Influential Factors and Accuracy of Three Time-frequency Analyses

Short-time Fourier transform (STFT),continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and S-transform (ST) were the commonly used linear time-frequency analysis methods,which were widely used in seismic data analysis and process.Whether it was STFT,CWT,or ST,the time-frequency resolution was the most important factor to be considered,but their time-frequency accuracy was of less attention. From the definition of STFT,CWT and ST,through analysis of various influential factors,the time-frequency resolution and time-frequency accuracy are discussed in detail to facilitate the correct application in seismic data process.On the basis stated above,by the comparison of signal with different properties of stationary,the conditions of application for STFT,CWT and ST are evaluated.
